Common, but NOT Normal
Research shows 9 out of 10 Americans suffer from headaches. These can be occasional or frequent, dull & achy, throbbing, sharp & stabbing. They can cause mild & annoying to severe & debilitating pain.
Many people are quick to take over-the-counter medication for their head pain. This may work for a while. However, eventually the medication wears off. Then the pain returns. Along with some potentially bad side-effects, there’s a problem with medication. The symptoms are only being masked. Medications do not address the cause of your pain.
Most of those 9 out of 10 are experiencing tension, migraine, and/or cluster headaches. Muscle tension in the neck is a main culprit. Consider the amount of time you spend sitting at a desk at work or looking down at your phone or tablet.
These types of positions cause muscle tension & joint irritation in your neck and upper back. This in turn can cause your head to ache.
So What Can You Do?
So what can be done in a chiropractic office for patients suffering from headaches? Because improving spinal function alleviates stress & tension in the neck and upper back, an adjustment can greatly reduce your head pain. Our doctors are also able to address other issues such as posture, hydration, proper stretching techniques, and dietary concerns. All of these can also contribute to your headache pain.
Even though so many Americans are suffering, it is NOT normal. Yes, it’s common. But living with constant headache pain is not normal.
If you or someone you know is living with headache pain, please contact our office. We are happy to set up an appointment with one of our doctors. Together you can discuss your headaches and the best course of treatment.
